What’s Rockin’ Laguna

You know what’s really going to rock? The KX MAS Christmas Party, that’s what. Nancy Wilson from the band Heart has been signed to headline the event. She is the blonde sister, Ann (the brunette) is not touring with Nancy, however her band Roadcase Royale, fronted by former Prince collaborator Liv Warfield is sure to play plenty of Heart’s hits! How did KX FM book such a major act to play for a lot less money? Station Owner, Tyler Russell, asked his friend Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp Founder, David Fishof if he knew any of his guitar counselors who would be willing. Because Nancy and the band believe in the importance of and the need to support local radio (and were offered Montage Resort accommodations in the most beautiful beach town), they said yes!

Nancy Wilson is the first woman to headline a KX MAS Show. Russell invited indie rock bands La Sera and Springtime Carnivore to open the show, each band fronted by women who rock. The event will utilize the festival grounds for food, drink, and Santa! It’s all going down December 8th at the Irvine Bowl right here where Pageant of the Masters is. VIP Experience/Tiered Seating at KX935.com.

Local booking agent and event planner, Tony Cox, has a knack for putting together musicians for some of Laguna’s hottest parties and events. At this month’s Sip & Shuck at The Deck and Driftwood Kitchen, he books jazz duet Addie Hamilton and Tommy Benson indoors and Phil Gough and Billy Sherman to jam out on The Deck. His newest passion project is managing rock n’ roll band Skylla. Skylla, who have started to emerge onto the Laguna scene with old school rock and are close to finishing a full-length album of 10 original songs. The band consists of songwriter, vocalist & guitarist Greg Trimarche, record producer and keyboardist Jelani Jones, guitarist Billy Sherman of Common Sense, drummer Todd Wolf of Beth Hart fame, Paul Black of LA Guns, Stokely Molineaux and Harold Todd, sax player for Lenny Kravitz.
