Recipes for Success

Clark Olson’s entrepreneurial fire was ignited during his employment with Laguna Beach Beer Company. Like specialty beer, hot sauce has gained enough interest to become its own specialty category.

In the beginning Clark developed an array of cocktails and food recipes to compliment Mago Hot Sauce which were taste tested on a multitude of friends and family. Before long, a business was born.

Two varieties of homemade Mago Hot Sauce are available. Red Habanero is the “original spicy magic” hot sauce consisting of roasted red peppers and Green Thai which combines Thai peppers, habaneros and jalapeños for a more “tangy spicy magic”.

The name “Mago” translates to wizard or magician in Spanish. During his stay in Buenos Aires, his house was named Casa De Los Elefanteshence the elephant motif on the label. As a fitting tribute Clark plans to involve the company with charities which support the betterment of elephants.

There are currently 35 places which carry his product and business continues to grow.

Locally: Hotel Laguna, Coyote Grill, The Stand, El Ranchito, Asada, Pearl St. General.

Entrepreneur, Chef, Eddie Perren is Founder of Kung Fu Tonic.

During his travels as a Chef to remote locales Eddie Perren often encountered people suffering from various illnesses. He decided to recreate his grandmother’s cold remedy in the form of a tonic and implement it in his cooking. The results were amazing and eventually demand for his tonic outpaced his vegan chocolate business. Eddie soon realized it was time to switch gears and devote himself full-time to perfecting and fulfilling the needs of Kung Fu Tonic.

The name appropriately characterizes the physical reaction one gets from the tonic as it acts like a Kung Fu Kick to the illness afflicting them. This “Ninja Secret” has bottled mother nature’s ingredients in a highly concentrated form, blending eight organic roots and herbs creating a powerful form of food medicine to boost the immune system. All ingredients are raw, organic, cold pressed and preserved with apple cider vinegar.

Kung Fu Tonic is available in its original form or in a second version called Kung Fu Tonic 2 with added turmeric, honey and habanero.

Locally: Laguna Coffee Company, Thalia Surf Shop, Laguna Cyclery, Whole Foods.
