The legendary Coach House in San Juan Capistrano agreed to headline Laguna’s loyal Robert Jon & The Wreck with the only caveat being they sell at least 300 tickets in the 500 seat venue. With only two weeks to pull it off, they enlisted The Dupp Brothers and JJ Smith and The Helm to help promote the gig and open the show. To say the show had a successful turn-out would be an understatement. Lagunans arrived in droves.

Big shout out to Laguna’s Sound Spectrum and KX 93.5 for aiding ticket sales and Docent Brewery in San Juan Capistrano. To add more luster to the lineup, the powerhouse singer/ songwriter, Anesha Rose, aka Music Mama, was on hand to sing a Rolling Stones cover and an ensemble cover by The Band. It was an especially Happy Birthday for Robbie Boyd, the washboard, harmonica, and Guitjo player of Hippy Hillbillies The Dupp Brothers. Daniel Blank on Fiddle and all the supreme talents of this band of brothers lit up the house.

This headlining gig has set the stage for Robert Jon Burrison and his wrecking crew. The harddriving, beat-driven songwriting fivesome of Henry James (lead guitar), Andrew Espantman (drums), Steve Maggiora (keyboardist), Warren Murrel (bassist), and Robert Jon (lead vocals and guitar) are heading for the big time. Currently, they are in “lockout” writing their 3rd full-length LP. In February, they will be on the road touring the U.S., including a second invitation to do the Blues Cruise with guitar legends Joe Bonamassa and Buddy Guy followed by a European tour in May and June. Check out all three bands and members doing various solo and duo gigs on any given night of the week in Laguna.
