In this easy, fun and entertaining class, students will create their own painting inspired by Laguna Beach. With step-by-step guidance from the instructor, you’ll create a beautiful finished painting to take home. Discover your inner artist at the Festival of Art’s Adult and Teen Art Classes! Watercolors with Christine Sullivan
Date: Saturday, July 6
Time: 3pm – 5:30pm

Discover the art of watercolor! Instructor Lillian Anna Blouin will guide students through creating their own work of art using a variety of watercolor techniques. Starting with the basics of constructing a composition, the instructor will demonstrate different forms of washes including some un-conventional methods for students to use on their own canvas. Mosaic Tiles with Carolyn Machado
Date: Sunday, July 7
Time: 3pm – 5:30pm
Cost: $60 (includes Festival admission)
This class will introduce students to the "art of mosaic.” We will be working on a small tile, using simple design elements to create a unique piece of artwork. Decorative tiles will come to life with the use of colorful and interesting pieces of broken pottery, tiles and small beads. Youth Arts Education Workshops

Bring out that creative spark in your young artist at the Youth Art Classes this summer at the Festival of Arts. Kids will enjoy art classes taught by professional Festival artists in mixed-media, watercolors, collage and more. Meanwhile, parents will have free time to view the artwork on display throughout the Festival grounds. Festival artists will also share some of their creative techniques in a fun and friendly environment that will inspire your kids to come back every week! Open to children ages 5 – 12. Art & Story Time

Art and Story Time is a weekly series for children 5 and under. Every Monday from 12:30 to 1:30pm, enjoy a different book read aloud plus a hands-on art project. Fun for children and their parents! Monday, July 8 will feature the book “Parker Pig Goes to Yoga” read by author Stacey Alysson. “Parker Pig Goes to Yoga” is a children’s yoga book aimed at teaching yoga, mindfulness and confidence through storytelling. Kids will learn yoga poses and breath while being read this charming story about a Pig named Parker who goes to Yoga with all her animal friends in a little red barn. Animals doing Yoga with fun animal sounds to go along!
Portraits on the Green

Watch as Festival of Arts exhibitors paint, sculpt or photograph live models on the Festival’s Concert Stage. This series will focus on how an artists’ interpretation of the same subject matter can vary based on their own unique style and perspectives. Patrons are invited to observe the artists at work for an up-close look at their creative process.

Ty Taylor’s Nouveau Mid-Century Romance Songbook

Chocolate, wine, and all that jazz sweetens up the Festival of Arts this summer! On Thursday nights, indulge your senses at the Art, Jazz, Wine and Chocolate series. Sample a wide variety of Kendall-Jackson wines expertly selected to compliment and enhance the nuanced flavor of high-end chocolates from Cocoa Parlor. The Festival’s casual and classy outdoor setting, together with the soulful sounds of jazz surrounded by fine art, creates an ideal evening for friends, sweethearts, and family.
Ty Taylor, lead singer of Blue Note Recording artists, Vintage Trouble, began singing in St. Pauls Baptist church choir in his youth, influenced from a young age by Otis Redding and Tina Turner. He studied drama and music at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and has starred on Broadway countless times. He has toured with Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, Macy Grey, Joss Stone, and Fiona Apple. Taylor was also in the Top 10 hit band, Dakota Moon on Elektra Records. As front man for Los Angeles-based Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Rock and Roll band, Vintage Trouble, he has opened for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park, 51 shows for The Who on the Quadrophenia Tour, Lenny Kravitz, Mavis Staples, KISS, and Bon Jovi.

Grab your yoga mat and get ready to flex your creative muscles at the Festival of Arts for “Art and Yoga” with Lululemon. Experienced yoga instructors will guide participants through a relaxing and meditative session outdoors surrounded by fine art. Whether you are brand new to yoga and want to test the waters or an experienced Yogi, all skill levels are welcome.

Explore the art of printmaking at the Festival of Arts! This class will focus on the collagraph technique which combines collage, drawing, painting and sculptural elements. Students will use oil-based paints applied with brushes and rollers to create their own colorful, textured and unique prints. On Fridays the Festival brings to center stage some of those amazing voices that are usually seen (and heard) in the background with the music series “Step into the Spotlight.” There’s an extraordinary lineup of back-up singers or background vocalists who will take the stage this summer.
Dorian Holley sang on all Michael Jackson’s solo tours and was Vocal Director in the documentary “This Is It”. He’s also toured with James Taylor and Lionel Richie, backed up Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, sang on The Jungle Book and Star Wars: Rogue One; and his band is fire. Holley was also the lead singer on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “Dancing With The Stars” and was Associate Music Director and Vocal Coach for 10 years on American Idol.
Pints, Pinots and Prints
Date: Friday, July 12
Time: 8:30 – 10pm
Cost: $75 (includes Festival admission)
Create a beautiful one-of-a-kind print with Festival exhibitor Vinita Voogd! Using a variety of colorful handmade papers and hand cut relief blocks, students will learn the basics of monoprint and overprint techniques in this creative printmaking class. Beginners and all levels are invited – take home your finished masterpiece! All supplies and complimentary wine or beverage are included. For adults 21 and up.
