Ed Steinfeld: Local Radio DJ is Keeping the Community Informed

KXFM Radio, 104.7 on your FM dial in Laguna Beach and beyond, is also web/internet based but for residents, it's locally focused and vital to the community. It receives funding from the City as an essential source for real-time local news, weather, traffic, emergency preparedness, and disaster response.

The station's management acted early and swiftly when news of the COVID-19 pandemic spread. When they determined it was safe for only one DJ to be allowed in the studio, it was a natural choice. It would be morning show host, Ed Steinfeld, and clearly, Ed has become the voice of Laguna for everything coronavirus.

Ed fills the 7 and 8 o'clock hours with coronavirus stats local, national, and worldwide, giving us the scientific facts, the cold harsh realities, and all from reliable sources. He delivers us daily updates on health care, testing, the economy, relief aid, and debunking the myths, of which there are plenty.

9-10 am is the hour to escape into Ed's music world, a collection he refers to as his "personal stash." It's a mix of classics and more obscure tracks, what you would hear at his home on the weekends, which he affectionately calls The Ponderosa.

He brings on a weekly expert, Lorene Gilbert of Wealth Wise Financial to sort out the relief aid packages and forecast the economy. Interviews throughout the week also include Wednesdays at 10 am a report from LBPD Captain Rachel Johnson and 1 pm with the Mayor, Bob Whalen, to tackle the serious matters our City is dealing with. The VIBE's Lisa Farber checks in on Friday to "Share What's Good" in the community to keep listeners up with what's happening virtually and highlight what restaurants are doing during the shutdown to serve the public.

Stay informed and entertained with Ed in the Mornings, weekdays from 7 am until necessary. He's on-call 24 hours to deliver the news. Be sure to download the KXFM app for Apple and Android in the app store, and you may also access the station via TuneIn and iHeartRadio.
