1460 S Coast Hwy ~ Re-Invents Itself During Covid-19

As Covid-19 took over the start of the busiest season for bars in Laguna and basically shut all but Main St Bar at 1460 S Coast Hwy down, we decided to implement a long-planned re-working of our family's 1958 bar and cabaret.

Without re-inventing the wheel, yet re-booting a vintage establishment, we’ve been using this time to sell Beer & Wine To Go (and in conjunction with Pizza Bar who don’t have a Beer & Wine Off Sale license) to those not wanting to stand in grocery store lines.

We have rounded up family to safely come together with gloves and masks to refurbish the little underground speakeasy space. It’s been a hard haul trying to keep it focused on the LGBTQ, the community goes anywhere now, so it’s time to bring it back to its true origins.

We are a married couple who watch over the day to day. My husband Jeff and I met while Jeff was working for a major beer distributor, through one of our longtime employees. The only underground bar, nightclub and cabaret in Laguna Beach, with rich and colorful history and patrons, will be re-opening to Laguna locals in the flavor of our history; whisky and ... come see what’s next.

Embracing Classic Laguna Beach

Such an encouraging article , especially at a time when we need it so much. I miss the old Laguna Beach, especially the bookstores, locally owned cafes, pottery places, and of course the classic beach town bars. Nice that Main Street Bar is taking this time for renewal, and at the same time embracing the past in both style & fare. Looking forward to their re-opening someday, soon I hope! For now, the idea of pizza & a cold 6-pack to-go sounds sweet!
